We all know how incredible a child's imagination is – one minute they're flying to the moon on a rocket ship, the next they're sailing away on a pirate ship or chasing a dragon over the hills. Even babies and very young toddlers love drama games. If you want to work with the most creative little people on the planet then a Pyjama Drama franchise is for you.
Pyjama Drama was founded in 2005 by Sarah Owen, a drama teacher who recognised the immense benefits that children derive from drama, movement, music and creative play. It was an immediate success in her local area and Pyjama Drama is now being delivered to hundreds of children, in towns all across the UK.
Not only has the entire programme been developed in line with the current requirements of the National Curriculum for England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales but it's also lots of fun! Drama offers children the opportunity to develop a valuable set of skills – we call it the four Cs: communication, confidence, concentration and cooperation.
All of Pyjama Drama music, songs and session plans have been specifically developed for Pyjama Drama (none of it is ‘off-the-shelf' library music) and this gives the programme added value that parents love.
Innovative and exciting classes – sessions are truly unique and session plans easy to follow. Well, Pyjama Drama franchise need people who are genuinely inspired by children, passionate about the benefits of drama and who have the confidence to lead a group of children in creative play.
Believe it or not, lots of people have drama skills without even realising it – when you read a story to a child and put on funny voices for different characters, that's a drama skill. When you role-play and pretend with your child, that's a drama skill too. So you certainly don't have to be drama trained or an actor to do Pyjama Drama! Of course it goes without saying that Pyjama Drama franchisees are all great with children, have the desire and enthusiasm to run their own business and a warm and friendly nature.
You don't have to be a trained teacher either, as all franchisees are trained by an experienced teacher and are given ongoing support, help, advice and encouragement. Some experience of working or playing with preschool children is important although this experience may simply come from playing with your own children.
Pyjama Drama also value honesty and integrity and are looking for people with a desire to do well and to succeed. Ambition is important although many of Pyjama Drama franchisees don't have any previous business experience and every aspect of running a business is covered in training.
